Joint Councils Meeting: Planning with Collectibles and Other Passion Assets
Program Description and Benefits:
The Washington, D.C. Estate Planning Council hosts the Montgomery County and Northern Virginia Council's for the annual Joint Council meeting.
Planning for collectibles and other passion assets requires an understanding of their distinctive features. Special consideration must be given to valuation issues, risk management, and how collectibles as an asset class relate to the client’s broader investment strategy. As is the case with so many aspects of estate planning, succession planning for collectibles hinges on the client’s goals. In this presentation, a panel of advisors from different industries will highlight some of the general trends and motivations in the collection and disposition (to people and non-profits) of passion assets and discuss special planning considerations and opportunities for collectors, both during life and at death.
